2018 ATHENA Nominees

Beth Kereszturi

Beth Kereszturi has spent her 20+ year career with marketing agencies in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Ohio. It’s been her passion helping other businesses grow their brands and realize the true value in a marketing strategy investment. Utilizing her creative strengths, love of writing and art of conveying value, Beth has enjoyed evolving along with the online buyer landscape. For the last 15 years, she has concentrated on digital marketing with her colleagues at Proximity Marketing in Brunswick. As the VP of Digital Strategies, Beth creates the long-term online plans for the agency’s clients and leads Proximity’s team of web specialists. Her drive to help the business community is what pushed Beth to become more involved with the Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance, and their programming committee. Through educational sessions with the chamber, Medina County’s empowHER event and the United Way of Medina County – Beth has enjoyed sharing her online marketing expertise with local businesses and non-profits. She is also a member of the Medina County Economic Development Corporation, and 2018 graduate of Leadership Medina County. Recently moving her family to Wadsworth, Beth looks forward to deepening her roots in her home community, sharing her time, skills and leadership.

 

Mauri O’brodo

Community, faith and family are Mauri’s top priorities. Mauri resides in Wadsworth and is co-owner of Sherman Provision Meats and International Grocery with her husband Michael. Mauri believes businesses have a responsibility to give back to the community and she volunteers with the Wadsworth Drug Free Coalition, Barberton Park system and her local church. She is responsible for community outreach, marketing and enjoys helping customers create the perfect meal. Mauri updated the company website to include a weekly blog featuring easy to follow, healthy recipes for busy families.

 

 

 

Elizabeth Orley

Elizabeth Orley is a 2002 graduate of the University of Arizona on the International Deans List. In 2003 Elizabeth started Elizabeth Ink, and over the years it has evolved into a boutique digital marketing company the deploys strategic marketing for businesses nationwide. She was recognized as a Global Ambassador for MOGUL an international platform for women. Elizabeth believes that to improve the world you must start within your community first, as an advocate for supporting local charities that impact our Northeast, Ohio community like Project Ed Bear, Heroes Home Project, the Greater Cleveland Chapter of American Field Service and many other local causes. Her role as Household Engineer has been the most rewarding position of her life, the support of her husband Andrew, and their children inspire her daily to be her best. She would not be able to do what she does without the love and support of her entire family.

 

Ann Plazek

Ann Plazek is the Outreach Services Manager for the Medina County District Library where she thrives on the opportunity to take the library beyond the walls. Ann supervises the bookmobile and oversees a team providing personalized home delivery for over 160 Medina County residents. Fueled by Ann’s passion and drive for early literacy, the library resumed story time visits to 27 daycares and head start programs where over 1,000 children are reached each month. Ann also secured grant funding from United Way to expand the Brunswick ROCKS program, and from the Office of Criminal Justice Services for Project READ: Inside to Outside which provides early literacy education to incarcerated parents and records them reading a book, they have selected for their child.   She is a member of Leadership Medina County Class of 2014, a recipient of Library Journal’s Movers & Shakers Award, and the Ohio Library Council’s John Philip Award. She is the Immediate Past President of the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services and has presented at several state and national library conferences.

 

Cathy Posner

Cathy Posner is the owner of Transition Consulting and Coaching, a career coaching and small business/organization development firm that helps individuals and organizations improve processes and achieve goals. Cathy has strived to make coaching and mentoring the core of her work. To stay true to that belief, Cathy is involved in multiple organizations as a volunteer, board member, and occasional consultant. She is past President and a current member of Medina County Women’s Endowment Fund, actively serving on MCWEF’s grants review committee for ten years. Cathy also currently serves as a board member with Feeding Medina County, a member of the Farmers Market Advisory Committee, a member of Main Street Medina, a member of Medina City Schools PTO, a member of the Medina Diversity Project, PR Chair for Kids First Medina, a member of Women’s Network of Northeast Ohio, 100+ Women Who Care and the Medina Chamber of Commerce, where she serves on the EmpowHER committee. Cathy believes that everyone has gifts to share with the world and is passionate about helping others identify and grow them!

 

Michelle Powell

Michelle Powell is the founder and director of Let’s Make a Difference, a summer program for underprivileged kids in Medina and ACE, an after-school mentoring /tutoring program at Claggett Middle School. Michelle was born and raised in Medina by a single mother of five and graduated from Medina High School. She has remained active in her community where she also serves as a licensed minister. In 2000, Michelle, a single mother of two, began a journey that would change her life and positively impact the lives of many children in need. Michelle’s first vision for Let’s Make a Difference was formed using only her limited resources – a simple meal and a game of kickball at the park, but the positive feedback from the children inspired her to realize her vision.   Michelle has persevered in overcoming obstacles. She has organized a board of directors, oversees a volunteer team that provides daily summer activities, and remains the caring inspiration for Medina’s underprivileged kids. Michelle has received numerous awards including induction into the Medina Hall of Fame.

 

Denise “Nisi” Pozderac

Denise “Nisi” Pozderac is President/Administrator of Transitional Living Centers (TLC), providing homes for developmental and intellectually disabled residents in Northern Medina County. Growing up in a family dedicated to providing long-term care services, Nisi has more than 40 years’ experience in the healthcare field. She and her late husband, Patrick, envisioned a way to provide a better quality of life for individuals with disabilities by creating small, personalized group homes. They founded TLC in 1990, and later she initiated the TLC “Riverside Habilitation Center” to provide day programming to their clients. Nisi is a 2013 Ohio Health Care Association Honoree receiving the “Pioneer Award” and has served as chairperson on the OHCA’s (Ohio Health Care Association) DD/ID constituency. Nisi’s commitment to her local community shows in the various organizations she volunteers; Chairman of the Buckeye Education Foundation, board member of the Valley City Community Group, board member of the NMCCA, member of Leadership Medina County, past Board member of the Westfield Bank advisory board, to name a few. Nisi’s philosophy, “Do the right thing, always, regardless of the consequences” sums up her successful career and life path.

 

Krista Wasowski

Serving as the Medina County Health Commissioner since 2012, Krista Wasowski has been in public service her entire professional career. An awareness of emerging needs led her to create a newly designed health center to serve the needs of low to moderate income residents and has led her efforts as the co-chair and founder of the Medina County Trauma Informed Care Collaborative and the Medina County Opiate Task Force. Krista is a member of the Women’s Network of Northeast Ohio, 100+ Women Who Care Medina, the Medina County Economic Development Corporation, and is a Class of 2014 graduate of Leadership Medina County. Krista was recognized as the 2015 Medina Noon Kiwanian of the Year for her service to children and she was actively involved with both E4 Youth Summits for Medina County. Krista serves on the Medina County Job and Family Services Advisory Board, the Medina County Career Center Advisory Council, and the SHC Board. She also serves as the weekend coordinator for Operation Homes at St. Francis Xavier. In addition to being a leader in her field, Krista has actively encouraged other women to pursue advanced careers in public health management.

 

2018 ATHENA Young Professional Nominees

Kristin Baum

Kristin is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing Management. Kristin is an Associate Broker at RE/MAX Omega and resides in Brunswick with her husband Trace. She has completed additional training and has obtained certifications in pricing strategy, negotiation, and property staging to better serve her clients. She has a passion for running and volunteers her time with Girls on the Run, the Special Olympics and the Conservancy for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

 

 

Nicole Perch

Nicole is an entrepreneur, starting her own business, Party N’ With Plants in 2015. She is a graduate of Akron University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Her business has grown beyond expectations and she has helped over 3,500 people create fairy gardens and has two franchises. Nicole has partnered with Akron Children’s Hospital to provide patients and their families the opportunity to make fairy gardens. She also volunteers her time as a Legal Volunteer Guardian for the elderly. She resides in Wadsworth with her husband and two young children.
