Amy McMillin, PT, discovered her passion for sports and wellness as a high school cheerleader and athletic trainer. She was captivated by football and the physical challenges it entailed. This early enthusiasm paved the way for her future career, leading her to The University of Akron in 2000 and later to Cleveland, where she embarked on a journey into physical therapy after graduating from Walsh University in 2007.
Amy’s career quickly focused on a specialized area—inner ear disorders, migraines, and chronic dizziness. Her commitment to this niche became evident when she earned her Herdman Vestibular Certification from Emory University in 2016. This certification marked her dedication to treating vestibular disorders, further solidified by her Impact Trained Physical Therapist (ITPT) certification for concussions.
In 2023, Amy’s expertise was enhanced with a vestibular competency course from Johns Hopkins University, and she published her first book, The McMillin Method: A Patient Guide for Self-Treatment of Chronic Dizziness and PPPD.
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 was a turning point for Amy. Recognizing the difficulties faced by those with chronic dizziness—especially concerning access to healthcare—she founded Custom Care Rehab. This concierge physical therapy service delivers personalized, in-home care, catering to busy professionals and individuals with various conditions, including migraines, joint replacements, and pregnancy-related injuries.
Custom Care Rehab has thrived, expanding to include four additional physical therapists. Her approach not only addresses the physical needs of her patients but also offers a flexible solution for those who prefer medical services that align with their schedules.
Amy’s dedication extends beyond direct patient care. Through her YouTube channel, Treat Dizziness at Home, she provides free, evidence-based advice, reaching a broader audience with practical strategies for managing dizziness.
