As we step into 2025, many people are discovering that their prescription costs are rising, and they may not fully understand their current Medicare plan. But don’t worry—help is available!
Even though the main Medicare Open Enrollment Period has ended, other opportunities exist to enroll or switch plans. Whether you’re already on Medicare, are about to become eligible, or are a veteran or someone with both Medicare and Medicaid, there may be a special enrollment period just for you.

Many people don’t review their Medicare plans each year and may face some surprises that come January due to changes in Medicare prescription costs for 2025. This is a result of the Inflation Reduction Act. Some of the changes include higher monthly premiums, deductibles of up to $595, and increased costs for medications. Additionally, some medications that were covered in 2024 may no longer be included in your plan for 2025.
The good news? The infamous “donut hole” has been removed from all plans in 2025. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, the maximum amount anyone has to pay for medications next year is $2,000 (as long as the medications are on the plan’s formulary). Please note that this does not include the monthly plan premium.
