Cultivating Virtues of Mind, Heart & Body
The Garden Christian Academy (GCA) multiplies the peace and welfare which comes only from God in Cleveland’s inner city by providing its youth with a distinguished, Christ-centered education. We pursue this purpose by offering an Imago-Dei education to the children of the city. That is, we seek to educate students in keeping with the grain of human dignity and nature. GCA leverages every moment of its student experience in order to serve a rich feast of learning—shaping whole human persons cultivated in virtues of mind, heart, and body.
Launched in 2019, the school has grown from 11 to 80 students in grades K–6. Composed primarily of “ACE” families (academically disenfranchised, culturally representative, and economically disadvantaged), enrollment priority is afforded to students for whom, whether because of proximity or cost, a private Christian education would be out of reach. GCA grows by one grade level per year, with the goal of becoming a K–12 school.
With the blessings of growth also come great challenges and opportunities. Next year will be our last year that we can physically fit in our current rented space. We are in the process of seeking a “forever home” into which we can grow for decades to come. If you are interested in helping GCA with a building acquisition, please contact Stephen Piscura, co-founder and Head of School at stephen.piscura@ thegardenchristianacademy.org.
We are also looking for a few good volunteers for our nutrition program. If you are interested in serving in the kitchen, recess yard, cafeteria or garden, please contact Amanda Roberts, GCA Nutrition Director, at aerowellness@gmail.com.
We love volunteers in our classrooms too! We love having volunteers with a unique skill in the trades, fabric arts, music, etc. Come share their loves with our students. Please contact Danielle, co-founder and Programs Director, at danielle.piscura@thegardenchristianacademy.org.
