Great question. There are many different types of effective counseling strategies, but some have been researched more than others. Evidence-based practice means a certain type of therapy has been researched and found to be effective for particular diagnoses or concerns.
What if my therapist’s treatment isn’t considered evidence-based?
Some treatments haven’t been researched enough to be labeled “evidence-based” but are considered completely valid. Treatments like art therapy are under increasing pressure to provide more research studies into their effectiveness. In this case, do what feels right for you.
Does being evidence-based mean it is guaranteed to work?
Unfortunately, no. No treatment is guaranteed to work for everyone. That is why there are so many. It is important to communicate openly with your therapist so they can adjust your care based on your results.
How do I know if I am making progress?
Some people start to see their mood & relationships improve, others start to get positive feedback from people around them. At Lamplight, we use an app called Blueprint which allows our clients to keep track of their symptoms and complete daily and weekly check-ins right from their phone. Over time clients can see their progress charted out and know how their treatment is working.
Does using Blueprint cost me anything?
When a client completes an assessment in Blueprint we are able to bill insurance. However, we want it to be accessible for all clients. Therefore, there are no out-of-pocket costs to use Blueprint, ever. We just want to give you the best care, and the best results possible.
At Lamplight Counseling Services LLC We are committed to helping you with therapeutic offerings. Schedule an appointment in Medina, Independence, or an online therapy session.
